Pilgangoora lithium project produces first coarse concentrate

Pilbara Minerals has produced its first coarse concentrate from the Pilgangoora lithium-tantalum project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

Concentrate from the Pilgangoora concentrator coarse circuit was successfully delivered as part of ongoing wet commissioning at the project. The delivery follows on from news last month that the company had produced its first fines concentrate from the site.

With both fines and coarse concentrates having now been achieved, the project is making good progress as production ramps up — around 1000 tonnes of fines and coarse concentrate has now been produced in total.

Fines are to be assayed following final commissioning of the project’s spodumene concentrate dressing circuit, an important part of getting the concentrate ready for sale. First production remains on course for next month.

Ken Brinsden, Pilbara Minerals managing director and chief executive officer said that the plant’s components had either met or exceeded expectations so far.

‘The extensive planning and due diligence undertaken by our engineering, construction and production teams is now well and truly paying dividends as we progressively bring the plant on line and ramp up its capacity,” he said.

“We look forward to the successful delivery of our first high-quality concentrate products to our customers next month.”
