Growth, grit and perseverance: MACFORCE’s employment success in 2021

For many people looking at employment success, the concept of success and winning are one and the same. In a lot of ways, they are in terms of achieving the ‘end goal’. But what about the journey?

As Rocky Balboa puts it: “It isn’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

This isn’t to say we all have to go 12 rounds in a ring or learn to take a hit. This quote speaks to taking setbacks and turning them into learnings to progress. It is all about growth, grit and perseverance contributing to your broader journey in life and in employment success.

Reflecting on ‘the year that was’ for MACFORCE, we certainly rolled with the punches, took on learnings and achieved our own measurement of success; quality outcomes for our candidates.

Unlike a lot of our peers in the recruitment space, the number of candidates we placed in 2021 (while impressive) wasn’t our metric for success. It was the positive impacts of these placements on the individual.

For us, the successful placement of 305 candidates has meant that 305 Australians accessed meaningful employment, cultivated independence, and achieved financial security.

Compared to our 228 candidates placed in 2020, this has meant a 25% growth. This has been integral to our business working toward our vision of changing the way people are employed in Australia.

Growth

All up, 2021 was a time of growth for MACFORCE. From welcoming six new team members to expanding our client base to more than 30, it has been huge. This growth supported our continued employment success through the expansion of our ex-offender program, and the establishment of a brand-new Veteran engagement program which is coming in the next couple of years.

Impressively, MACFORCE’s ex-offender program achieved the successful employment of 41 ex-offenders this year.

Grit

These programs, built on our belief that everyone deserves equal access to employment, were made possible through our partnerships with organisations like Workskill Australia, Department of Justice, Veteran engagement groups and First Nations employment groups, Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation and Breakaway Aboriginal Corporation.

Success for us is further recognised in the acknowledgement of our success in employment through multiple radio, podcasts and magazine interviews – all sweetened by our very first awards ceremony where we were finalists in five categories. This was an incredible and proud moment for us. We will persevere and look toward further growth, accomplishing even more employment success and outcomes for our candidates next year.

Perseverance

In a time of new year’s resolutions, MACFORCE are committed to taking our learnings to propel us into 2022. From expanding into Queensland, to fresh office digs and a formal launch of our Reboot program, we certainly have a lot to look forward to – so watch this space!

MACFORCE would like to thank everyone who has supported and contributed to our programs and success in 2021. We look forward to sharing our journey with you in the new year.
